Why is blogging better than a traditional job?

There are a few key reasons why blogging is better than a traditional job. For one, blogging offers more flexibility and freedom than a traditional job. You can work from anywhere in the world, and you don’t have to punch a time clock or answer a boss.

Another key reason why blogging is better than a traditional job is that it allows you to be your own boss. You make your own decisions about what content to produce when to produce it, and how to market it. This can be extremely empowering, especially if you’re used to working in a traditional job where you have little control over your day-to-day tasks.

Finally, blogging typically pays much better than a traditional job.

While you may not make millions of dollars overnight, if you build a successful blog, you can easily make more than you would in a traditional job.

This is especially true if you monetize your blog through your own digital products, but when you start your blog, you usually make money through advertising or affiliate marketing.

Why is blogging better than a traditional job?

So why is blogging better than a traditional job? There are many reasons, but these are just a few key ones. If you’re looking for more flexibility, freedom, and earnings potential, blogging is definitely the way to go.

To give you more insight into why you should start a blogging career, I’ve listed 15 of my key reasons why blogging is better than a traditional job.

Here they are:

  1. You can work from anywhere in the world.
  2. You’re your own boss.
  3. The earning potential is much higher than a traditional job.
  4. You have complete control over your content.
  5. You can build an audience of loyal followers who will support your work.
  6. You can turn your blog into a business and sell products or services that you’re passionate about.
  7. You can use your blog to build valuable relationships with other bloggers and influencers in your industry.
  8. You can use your blog to land speaking gigs, consulting projects, or other opportunities that align with your goals.
  9. Blogging offers a great deal of flexibility — you can choose to work when and where you want.
  10. You’re never limited by office politics or a “glass ceiling” — your success is only limited by your own hard work and determination.
  11. You can take advantage of social media to reach a wider audience and build a personal brand.
  12. You can leverage your blog to get published in traditional media outlets or land writing gigs on other sites.
  13. You can use your blog as a platform to launch other businesses or ventures.
  14. You can choose to work with clients or companies that you believe in or are passionate about.
  15. You can use your blog to make a difference in the world by sharing your voice and ideas with others.

Blogging is a great way to build a career that is both flexible and rewarding. If you’re looking for an alternative to a traditional job, blogging is a great option to consider. These are just a few of the many reasons why blogging is better than a traditional job.

Benefits of blogging compared to traditional jobs.

As someone who has been blogging for years, I can say that one of the biggest benefits of blogging is the flexibility it offers.

Unlike a traditional job, where you’re expected to work from 9-5, blogging allows you to work on your own schedule. You can work early in the morning, late at night, or whenever it’s convenient for you. This level of flexibility is rare in most traditional jobs.

Another advantage of blogging is the ability to work from anywhere. As long as you have an internet connection, you can work from home, at a coffee shop, or even while traveling. This kind of freedom is incredibly liberating, and it allows you to design your workday around your lifestyle rather than the other way around.

Finally, blogging offers the opportunity for creative expression. When you’re working a traditional job, you’re often limited by the expectations and constraints of your employer. But with blogging, you have the freedom to write about anything you want.

Whether you’re passionate about food, travel, or technology, you can create content that reflects your interests and expertise.

Advantages of blogging over traditional employment.

One of the biggest advantages of blogging over traditional employment is the potential for passive income.

While traditional jobs require you to trade your time for money, blogging allows you to create content that can continue to generate income long after it’s been published. This means that even when you’re not actively working on your blog, you can still earn money from it.

Another advantage of blogging is the ability to reach a global audience. With the internet, you have the potential to reach people from all over the world. This can lead to incredible opportunities for networking, collaboration, and even new business ventures.

Finally, blogging allows you to build your personal brand. By creating valuable content and establishing yourself as an expert in your niche, you can attract new clients and business opportunities. This kind of exposure is incredibly valuable, and it can help you advance your career in ways that traditional employment can’t.

Pros and cons of blogging as a career.

As with any career, there are pros and cons to blogging. On the positive side, blogging allows you to work from anywhere, create your own schedule, and pursue your passion. It also has the potential for unlimited income and can provide opportunities for networking and collaboration.

On the negative side, blogging requires a lot of self-discipline and motivation. Unlike a traditional job, where you have a boss and coworkers to keep you accountable, blogging requires you to be self-motivated and disciplined in order to stay on track. It can also take time to build up an audience

and establish yourself as an expert in your niche, and it can be a competitive market. It’s important to have a strong work ethic and persistence in order to succeed as a blogger.

Another potential downside of blogging as a career is the uncertainty of income. While there is potential for unlimited income, it can also be unpredictable. It can take time to build up a steady stream of income from your blog, and there may be periods of time when your income fluctuates.

Overall, blogging can be a fulfilling and rewarding career choice, but it’s important to weigh the pros and cons before making the decision to pursue it as a full-time career.

Why choose blogging over a 9-5 job?

For me, the decision to choose blogging over a traditional 9-5 job came down to one word: freedom.

With a traditional job, you’re often tied to a desk for 8 hours a day. But with blogging, you have the freedom to work from anywhere and at any time. This level of flexibility is incredibly liberating, and it allows you to design your workday around your lifestyle rather than the other way around.

Another reason I chose blogging is the potential for unlimited income. With a traditional job, your income is often capped by your salary or hourly wage. But with blogging, there’s no limit to how much you can earn. The more you invest in your blog, the more you can earn from it.

Finally, I chose blogging because it allows me to pursue my passion.

When you’re working a traditional job, you often have to put your passions on hold in order to earn a paycheck. But with blogging, you can create content that reflects your interests and expertise. This kind of creative expression is incredibly rewarding, and it makes every day feel like a new adventure.

Is blogging a real job?

Yes, blogging is a real job. While it may not be a traditional 9-5 job, it is a legitimate way to make money. You still pay taxes as you would in a traditional job, but unlike 9 to 5, you actually also have your own expenses. So in some ways, blogging can be even more expensive than working a traditional job. At least at the beginning.

The key to making money blogging is to treat it like a business. If you’re just starting out, that means creating content regularly, promoting your blog, and building an audience of loyal followers. Once you’ve built up a following, you monetize your blog.

Blogging is a real job, but it’s not for everyone. If you aren’t prepared to work hard and hustle, then blogging probably isn’t the right career choice for you.

How do I replace my traditional job with a blog?

The first step is to start a blog. If you don’t already have one, you can easily create a blog for free with WordPress. Once you have a blog, start creating high-quality content that will appeal to your target audience.

Next, start promoting your blog. Share your content on social media, guest post on other blogs, and participate in online forums, building authority. The best way to build authority is by connecting on LinkedIn.

The more people you can reach, the better, but you have to treat your blog like a real business, not a hobby.

Finally, start monetizing your blog. There are a number of ways to do this, but the most common is through advertising or affiliate marketing. Once you have a steady stream of traffic coming to your blog, you can also create your own digital products and courses, and start making really good money.

Blogging is a great way to replace your traditional job. If you’re looking for more flexibility, freedom, and earnings potential, blogging is definitely the way to go. These are just a few of the many reasons why blogging is better than a traditional job.

Should you replace your job with a blogging career?

To replace your traditional job with a blog, you first need to build a successful blog. This takes time, effort, and dedication. Once you’ve built a following and established yourself as an authority in your industry, you can then begin to monetize your blog through advertising, affiliate marketing, or selling your own products and services.

It is up to you, but if you want to build a blogging career you will have to start by blogging on the side of your 9 to 5.

If you’re interested in starting a blog, there are a few points you should keep in mind.

  • First, choose a niche that you’re passionate about. This will make it easier to maintain your blog and produce quality content on a regular basis.
  • Second, be sure to promote your blog through social media and other channels. This will help you reach a larger audience and grow your following.
  • Third, be patient — it takes time to build a successful blog. But if you’re willing to put in the effort, blogging can be a great way to replace your traditional job.

While there are many benefits to blogging, it’s important to remember that it’s not for everyone. If you’re not interested in the hard work that goes into building a successful blog, then a traditional job may be a better option for you.

But if you’re willing to put in the time and effort, blogging can be a great way to build a career that is both flexible and rewarding.

How to start a blog?

If you’re ready to start a blog, there are a few simple steps you can follow:

  1. Choose a blogging platform like WordPress or Blogger.
  2. Pick a domain name for your blog.
  3. Set up hosting.
  4. Design your blog using a theme or template.
  5. Write and publish your first blog post.
  6. Promote your blog through social media and other channels.
  7. Be patient — it takes time to build a successful blog.

Blogging can be a great way to replace your traditional job, but it takes time, effort, and dedication to build a successful blog. But if you’re willing to put in the work, blogging can be a rewarding and flexible career.

Let’s look at all the above steps one by one…

Why is blogging better than a traditional job 1

1. Choose a blogging platform:

WordPress or Blogger are two popular options. If you’re not sure which one to choose, I always recommend WordPress. It’s easy to use and there are plenty of themes and plugins available to help you customize your blog.

Besides, if you want to take your blog seriously and build a blogging career, WordPress is the way to go.

WordPress is the best choice because all the big companies use it. If you want to compete and be seen, and taken seriously, you’re going to want to use WordPress too.

Blogger, on the other hand, is a good choice if you’re just looking to start a simple blog for fun. It’s easy to use and set up, but it doesn’t offer as much flexibility or customization as WordPress does.

Don’t fall for Wix, GoDaddy, or any of the other drag-and-drop website builders. While they may be easy to use, they’re not good for SEO and you’ll have a hard time getting traffic to your blog. Choose WordPress.

2. Pick a domain name for your blog.

This is the URL people will use to access your blog (e.g., www.example.com). Try to choose a domain name that is short, memorable, and relevant to your niche.

For my first blog which is in a health niche, I used “Worry Head”, for my second and current blog I used my name as the domain. When you use your own name, you ate not tied up to any particular niche which gives you the flexibility you need.

You can always change into a direction that brings you the most traffic, meaning, the posts that rank the most, have the most views, get the most shares, and so on.

To give you an example of my own, I started my health blog focusing on endometriosis and fibromyalgia, two chronic conditions that my wife suffers from, however, I noticed that plenty of people who suffer from other chronic conditions visited my blog.

I decided to expand my small endometriosis and fibromyalgia niche into a wider audience by creating content on overall chronic illness.

3. Set up hosting.

If you’re using WordPress, you can host your blog on WordPress.com or set up your own hosting account with web hosting providers like Bluehost, HostGator, or SiteGround.

If you’re using Blogger, you can host your blog for free on Blogspot.com. But again, you don’t want a hobby but a real business. Forget about Blogspot.

Hosting is important because it’s where your website lives on the internet. A good web host will make sure your website is always up and running and can handle a lot of traffic.

I recommend using HostGator because they are one of the largest and most popular web hosting providers. Plus, they offer a free domain name and a free WordPress installation when you sign up for their hosting.

But there’s more!

HostGator has a free chat that is available for you 24/7, anytime, anywhere. You can chat with them and ask for help with anything. I actually want to run my blogging business, so when any technical issues arise, I simply go on HostGator chat and ask them to solve my issues. They never fail to deliver.

Furthermore, HostGator is as cheap as a cup of coffee. At the price of one cup of coffee, you get all of the above every month.

4. Design your blog.

Choose a theme or template for your blog. If you’re using WordPress, there are thousands of free and paid themes available. You can upgrade them if you want more features, but this is not necessary. Actually, the more junk you add, the slower your website is.

Try to have a clean website and use only the fastest themes. This is going to help you rank better in the future if your website runs fast.

You can use Elementor. I did. Elementor is a WordPress plugin that allows you to design your blog without touching a single line of code. You can drag and drop elements to create beautiful pages and posts. It goes well with Halo and Astra themes.

I used it for my health blog. I started with a free version and later upgraded to the paid version. To save on my money and speed, I changed it to the paid version of the GeneratePress theme and added to it plenty of add-ons.

It runs pretty fast, thanks to Ezoic.

For this very blog, I use a free version of GeneratePress because I am used to this theme, however, I don’t use any extra add-ons. I want to keep it simple and extremely fast, to hit a perfect speed score of 100.

Not getting too technical, just choose a free theme and design your blog to your liking. Bear in mind though, don’t get caught in redesigning over and over. Most people do, I used to be guilty of that too, but instead of creating content, I wasted months playing with different designs.

Don’t make that mistake. Write blog posts instead…

5. Write and publish your first blog post.

This is where the fun begins! Write a blog post about something you’re passionate about. Be sure to include images, videos, or infographics to make your post more engaging. Once you’re happy with your post, hit the “Publish” button and share it with the world!

Remember when I told you not to get caught in redesigning your website?

This is crucial. You need to create blog post after blog post. Blog posts are the core of your business. They are what people come to read, after all.

If you want to make money blogging, you need to be consistent with your writing. Write and publish new blog posts on a regular basis. I recommend writing and publishing at least 2-3 posts per week to start with.

You can always scale up your writing later on, but it’s important to get into the habit of writing regularly first.

Ideally, write more, even though at the beginning you will have to also create main pages such as “Home page”, “About page”, “Blog page”, and other important pages and it may be hard to keep up. The Sooner you finish them the better.

Remember that your blog I a living thing, you will not get any people to your blog in the first weeks, even months. You can always update your pages, and blog posts too for that matter. So, the sooner you start writing your posts the better.

A blog post takes on average 6 to 8 months to appear on Google. You cannot speed the process up, it’s up to Googly gods and algorithms.

But talking of algorithms, it’s important for you to know, that Google is based on algorithms. A.I. is getting smarter and smarter. If you want to match that because you struggle to keep up writing content as quickly as you’d like, use Jasper.

Jasper.ai is an AI-powered content writing tool that will help you write blog posts astonishingly 5 times faster.

You simply input the topic, choose the keyword you want to rank for, set the tone of the article and Jasper will get to work.

The tool is still in its early days, but it’s getting better with every new update.

I use it for all my blog posts, including this very blog and my health blog. I am really happy with the results. I used to struggle to write one post per week. Today, with the help of Jasper.ai, I write 2 to 3 blog posts every single day!

6. Promote your blog.

Once you’ve published your first blog post, you can leave it for the Google gods for 6 to 8 months.

If you want to start promoting your blog, you can.

You could share your posts on social media, in forums like Reddit or Quora, but if you think of promoting your blog, the best way to do it is through Pinterest.

Pinterest isn’t a social media, it’s actually a search engine, like Google. The difference is, that Pinterest is visual.

Pinterest is the best platform to drive traffic to your blog. Simply create pins for your blog posts and share them on Pinterest.

You can also join group boards relevant to your niche, which will help you get your pins in front of more people. To learn more about how to use Pinterest to drive traffic to your blog, check out the Pinterest Traffic Avalanche.

You will not be disappointed!

7. Be patient.

It takes time to build a successful blog. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t see results overnight. Just keep writing, promoting, and growing your blog, and you’ll eventually start to see traction.

As I said, it takes on average at least 8 months for each post to get ranked somewhere by Google. It could be on the 9th page, maybe on the 4th or 2nd, but then that post needs to gradually climb up towards the 1st page, ideally to the top 3 to start getting some traffic.

In order to get some traffic, even 100 Google visitors per month, it might take you 8 months or so because the first blog posts you wrote in months one and two will begin to rank.

So, it takes time.

Remember, that ranking factor is also impacted by your domain authority (DA), and page authority. There are many factors impacting domain authority, but the main one is backlinks.

The more backlinks you have from high-quality websites, the higher your DA will be and the easier it’ll be for your blog posts to rank.

So be patient. Things take time. The more you write, especially at the beginning, the more likely your posts are going to rank, and the more traffic they will bring. Remember, not every post is going to rank, so don’t get discouraged.

A lack of patience is the main reason why people give up. Don’t be one of them. If you’re patient, you’ll get results.

Making money through blogging.

There are several ways to make money through blogging. One of the most common ways is through advertising revenue. This involves placing ads on your blog and earning money based on the number of clicks or views the ads receive.

Another way to make money through blogging is through affiliate marketing. This involves promoting products or services on your blog and earning a commission on any sales that result from your promotion.

Sponsored content is another way to make money through blogging. This involves partnering with brands to create content that promotes their products or services. In exchange, you receive payment or other compensation.

Finally, you can make money through blogging by creating and selling your own products or services. This could include ebooks, courses, coaching services, or physical products.

It’s important to note that making money through blogging takes time and effort. It’s not a get-rich-quick scheme, and it requires consistent effort and dedication in order to build up a steady stream of income. But with persistence and hard work, it’s possible to turn your blog into a profitable business.
