As a society, we’re constantly being told to work harder. Go the extra mile. Hustle 24/7.

We are taught at school to learn what other people tell us to, to gain good grades and pass exams in order to find a successful job. But then you find yourself slaving hard for someone else but you for years with the hope that someday you can retire and live a few years when your health isn’t so good anymore.

But what if the solution to becoming more successful isn’t to work harder, but to work smarter?

The same principle can be applied to blogging. blog with a purpose and be blog efficient.

What is a blog?

A blog is a website where an individual or group of people write articles on a regular basis. A blog can be about anything, from politics to personal experiences, and is generally updated frequently.

A blog is typically written in a casual or conversational style and is often personal in nature. Many blogs are also opinionated and offer readers the chance to comment on the blog post or contact the author directly.

In the past, to have a blog, you needed to be a web programmer or have someone else create the blog for you. Today, there are many blog hosting sites that will set up a blog for you, for free or for a small fee.

A decade ago, blogs used to be used as journals or diaries, where people would blog about their day-to-day lives. Today, blogs are used for a wide variety of purposes, from marketing a business to sharing news and information.

Blogging isn’t a hobby!

Blogging isn’t a hobby anymore, it’s a full-fledged business. And like any business, there’s a right way and a wrong way to blog. The goal of this post is to show you the difference between blogging the right way and blogging the hard way.

Blogging the hard way is when you blog without a strategy, without a plan, and without knowing your audience. You just blog for the sake of blogging, hoping that something will eventually stick.

This is why I decided to write this article and give you some tips on how to blog smarter not harder.

Why blog anyway?

There are many reasons why people blog.

Some people blog to share their knowledge or expertise on a certain topic, while others blog as a way to document their personal thoughts and experiences. Some people even blog as a way to make money.

I started blogging because of personal reasons.

My wife became chronically ill and I found how challenging it is to be a partner of someone who suffers from endometriosis and fibromyalgia, and that there was no information for men like me. I started my first health blog to give a voice to caregiving male partners and to show other men in my position how to better cope, and how to best support their chronically ill partner.

However, undoubtedly, I wanted to grow a successful blogging business to help my wife escape her struggles of the traditional job, so she could focus on self-care and getting better, rather than live a stress-filled life along with her debilitating symptoms.

Whatever the reason for blogging, it’s important to remember that blogging is not easy. It takes time, effort, and dedication to be a successful blogger.

What’s the difference between blogging smart and hard?

The difference between blogging smart and blogging hard is simple. When you blog smart, you blog with a purpose. You have a plan and you know your audience, you can blog with the intention of growing your blog and reaching your goals.

On the other hand, when you blog hard, you blog without a strategy. You blog without knowing your audience or what you want to achieve with your blog. You just blog for the sake of blogging and hope that something will eventually stick.

The problem with blogging hard is that it’s a waste of time. You’re not going to reach your goals if you don’t have a plan or if you’re not blogging with a purpose.

If you want to be a successful blogger, you need to blog smart, not hard.

Blogging is not easy, but it can be very rewarding. By following the tips in this article, you can blog smarter and be more successful in your blogging endeavors.

What does it mean to blog smarter?

To blog smarter means to blog with a focus on quality and quantity. It means creating well-thought-out blog posts that are interesting and informative and NOT promoting them on social media.

Additionally, being consistent with your blog postings is important to maintain a loyal following. You will need to, however, focus on search engine optimization to make sure your blog is easily found online.

This can be done through the use of keywords, backlinks, and other SEO strategies.

How can you blog smarter not harder?

One of the most important things to remember when blogging is that you should blog smarter, not harder. This means that you shouldn’t focus only on quality over quantity but both. You should be creating content that is useful and interesting to your readers.

You can do all that by staying organized and focusing on the things that make sense to do at any particular stage of your blog.

To help you do that, I give you my 7 tips you should follow in the exact order:

  1. Don’t blog about topics you’re passionate about.
  2. Blog with a purpose.
  3. Blog regularly, and be consistent.
  4. Be yourself, and connect with your audience.
  5. Focus on quality and quantity.
  6. Don’t try to do it all.
  7. Leverage technology.

1. Don’t blog about topics you’re passionate about.

This is the number one mistake bloggers make. They choose a niche and focus on it without proper research beforehand. They focus on one small niche which doesn’t allow them to expand their blog.

Many bloggers get stuck because even though blogging about topics you are passionate about might seem like a good idea, it’s actually not. The reason is that you will eventually run out of topics to write about, and even get bored of writing about the same thing over and over again.

If you want to become a successful blogger, use your name as the domain name, which you can expand in any direction you want.

This means that after writing for some time, after 6 to 8 months you will notice where are most of your readers coming from, and it is going to help you better target your audience.

In other words, you should blog with a purpose…

2. Blog with a purpose.

Before you start writing, take some time to think about the purpose of your blog post.

  • What are you trying to achieve with this blog post?
  • What do you want your readers to take away from it?

By having a clear purpose for your blog post, you will be able to write better content that is more likely to achieve your goals.

Think about what are you trying to achieve with every blog post because you should treat every single article as your employee that earns you money like you would in a traditional business.

Think about what you want your readers to take away from your articles to make sure you’re delivering value.

3. Blog regularly, and be consistent.

One of the most important things to remember when blogging is to be consistent. This means posting new content on a regular basis. If you only update your blog sporadically, you’re likely to lose readers. But if you’re consistent with your blog posts, you’ll be able to build a loyal following.

Many bloggers write on average once a week. This isn’t good enough I’m afraid. Yes, you should write on a weekly basis, but you should write at least 3 blog posts a week, ideally, 5 to 6 times.

The reason being is, that if you write once per week, in a year you will produce only 52 blog posts as opposed to writing a minimum of three times a week where you will produce as many as 156 pieces of content.

It’s important to produce a lot of content in the first six months because not every blog post is going to rank. The more you write, the better chance you have to grow.

This is simple math.

4. Be yourself, and connect with your audience.

One of the best things about blogging is that you can be yourself. You don’t have to put on a persona or be someone you’re not. Just be yourself, and write blog posts that reflect your personality.

This will help you connect with your audience and build a loyal following. If you just copy other bloggers’ content or write similar to their tone of voice, you will be seen as a copycat.

In order to get authority and become an expert in your field, you need to be yourself and blog about topics you have personal experience with and share your own insights. If you don’t do this, you will never be able to build a personal connection with your audience.

5. Focus on quality and quantity.

They say, that it’s better to write one great blog post than 10 mediocre ones. This is true because your readers will appreciate blog posts that are well-written and informative.

However, aside from taking your time to write quality blog posts without worrying about quantity, it is going to take you forever to find success.

You should also focus on writing a lot of blog posts. If you only write a handful of blog posts, it’s unlikely that you’ll be able to drive enough traffic to your blog to make it successful.

The key is to find a balance between quality and quantity. Write blog posts that are informative and well-written, but don’t spend too much time on each one. And make sure to write a decent number of blog posts each week so you can quickly build up a large body of content.

6. Don’t try to do it all.

There’s no need to blog about everything under the sun. And it is unwise to write, design, and monetize at once.

Your audience is going to guide you toward your niche, so you should stick to writing about topics that fall within their needs. This will help you become an expert in your field, and it will make it easier to find paying customers at the later stage of your blog.

Many bloggers fall into a trap of constant redesigning of the look of their blogs, I also caught myself doing that, I wasted 3 months trying to redesign my blog to my liking. I wasted a lot of time instead of producing a lot of helpful content.

Perfectionism will get you nowhere blogging, but producing content will.

Do not monetize your blog until you get at least 1000 visitors per month from Google alone. Don’t rely on social media as this requires a lot of promoting and this kind of traffic is short-lived. Focus on search engine optimization (SEO).

7. Leverage technology.

Technology can make blogging easier and more efficient. There are a number of tools and software programs that can help you with things like creating blog content, optimizing your blog for search engines, and managing your blog comments.

Two of the most effective ones that I personally use are Jasper and SurferSEO.

Jasper is a great A.I. tool for creating blog content because it helps you research and organizes your ideas quickly and easily.

SurferSEO is an excellent tool for optimizing your blog posts for search engines. It helps you find the right keywords to use in your blog content, and it also provides helpful insights into how you can improve your blog posts for better search engine ranking.

Use these A.I. tools to your advantage, and you’ll be able to blog smarter, not harder.

How can blogging smarter help you be more successful?

You can be successful.

As a blogger, you need to focus on writing plenty of quality blog posts instead of promoting them on social media. It’s a waste of your precious time.

If you focus on the things that don’t build your blog and bring you traffic in the future, you are wasting your time. Forget your design, forget social media, forget commenting on other bloggers’ blogs, none of that will bring you traffic.

Producing content non-stop is the number one way of blogging smarter and can help you become successful, so don’t waste your time on anything but writing. If you do this you will be well on your way to finding success with your blog.

Don’t worry about monetization of your blog because there is no point in doing so not having any traffic.

Ideally, write 75-100 posts in the first six months of starting your blog.

Remember that it takes 6 to 8 months for a single blog post to start ranking somewhere in google search engines. Knowing that after the first six months you wrote 75 to 100 articles, you’ll be sure that in the following six months (one year since starting) you will get some traffic.

Blogging isn’t a hobby, it takes time. It is not a fast-money-making scheme. Many bloggers fail to understand that and 95% of them fail by giving up too early. Their lack of patience is the reason for their failure.

Be patient, be consistent, blog smarter not harder and you will find success with your blog.

How can I blog more intelligently?

1. Figure out why you’re blogging.

Are you blogging to build a personal brand, generate leads for your business, or share your passion with the world?

Once you know your purpose, it will be easier to blog smarter, not harder. You need to know the purpose of your blog.

2. Set goals and create a blog strategy.

If you want to be a successful blogger, you need to treat your blog like a business. This means setting goals and creating a blog strategy that aligns with those goals.

Once you have a plan, it will be easier to blog efficiently and effectively.

3. Create blog content that is valuable and relevant.

The best way to blog smarter not harder is to create content that is valuable and relevant to your audience.

If you’re creating content just for the sake of it, no one will want to read it. But if you’re creating content that is helpful and informative, people will be more likely to read it and share it.

4. Focus on both – quality and quantity.

It’s not better to blog less often. Quality is important but by blogging frequently and creating well-written, informative blog posts, you will be more successful than if you try to blog every day with short, uninteresting posts.

Remember that you can always go back in the future to update your posts. The great thing about blogging is that you can always improve your blog posts over time.

5. Use tools to help you blog more efficiently.

There are a number of blogging tools that can help you blog more efficiently. Some of these tools include WordPress plugins, editorial calendars, and social media management tools.

But you should also use A.I. tools such as Jasper and SurferSEO.

Using these tools can help you blog smarter, not harder.

Final word.

To sum things up, if you want to blog smarter not harder, you need to focus on creating quality content, promoting your blog effectively, and using tools to help you blog more efficiently.

If you can do these things, you’ll be well on your way to becoming a successful blogger.

Happy blogging!
